McDougall House Edmonton

About Us

Mission

"To provide residential support and to empower women in recovery from addictions through knowledge, awareness and behavioral change, in order that they might choose to live healthy and happy lives"

Philosophy

We believe that:

  • Women in recovery should be treated with dignity and respect.
  • Recovery needs to be approached in a holistic manner.
  • Recovery plans need to be individualized for each woman, to address their particular needs.
  • Women can direct their own recovery process and need to be empowered to do so.
  • Women can benefit from the support and therapeutic milieu provided within a residential setting.

Our Beliefs about Addictions Treatment and Recovery

We believe that:

  • Treatment should be provided in a safe environment.
  • Treatment should be abstinence-based.
  • Treatment should be by mutual contract (counsellor, client).
  • The success of treatment depends on co-operation and hard work.

Goal of McDougall House

To support women in gaining an understanding of their addictions; in developing healthy relationships; and in developing a strong support system in the community so that they may re-enter the community sober, confident and competent in managing their lives. Our aim is to assist women towards taking positive control of their lives.
